Christopher de Vere Walker

Managing Director - DVW Group

Prior to creating DVW Group Limited, Christopher headed GFI Group’s Eastern European Energy Markets division in London. He was responsible for business development in the CIS and the Balkans by advising power utilities on trading and brokering activities.  Typically he shared expertise such as risk management, price discovery methods, as well as providing real-time and historical market data evaluation, in addition to the implementation and running of electronic trading systems.

Christopher gained his power experience from Link Asset and Securities Ltd in London where his position grew to heading the energy brokerage power derivatives team in Continental Europe. He personally structured and negotiated forwards, swaps and options of electric power contracts averaging a volume of 1.5 million MWh per day for producers, suppliers and traders in Continental European, and the UK. In addition, he conducted business during the critical period Enron collapsed and the transitional period of the Pool Purchasing Price (PPP) to the New Electricity Trading Arrangement (NETA).

Prior to joining Link Asset and Securities Co. Limited, Christopher’s primary role was to strengthen operating ties and the flow of clearing business between the two largest oil exchanges in the world: the International Petroleum Exchange and the New York Mercantile Exchange. As a secondary role he implemented a stand-alone electronic trading platform, where he traded Brent Oil and the FTSE 100 future.

He began his professional experience of trading, brokering and clearing from Saratoga Limited as a Clearing Manager. In this role, he was responsible for risk management, regulatory issues, clearing policies, customer and exchange relationships and business development. He successfully doubled Saratoga’s presence on both the London Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE) and the International Petroleum Exchange (IPE) exchanges whilst effectively managing the company’s risk of over 40 traders and brokers.

Brian Count, PhD

Director - DVW Asset Optimisation

Brian is head of DVW's asset optimisation and management arm. He forms the strategy and coordination between the client and DVW's resources. With 32 years experience in the electricity Industry, Brian has held the post of Chief Executive of RWE Trading, Chief Executive Officer of Innogy plc and Director of power generation in National Power.

His role as Chief Executive of RWE Trading based in Germany involved all energy trading within the group – oil, coal, gas and power. The annual turnover was circa €8bn where the main challenge was to integrate the trading businesses across the group and optimise the asset base of RWE.

As Chief Executive Officer of Innogy plc his role involved the transformation of the business, which was demerged from National Power, from a generator to an integrated business. During this period a series of asset sales and energy supply business acquisitions were undertaken before the company was acquired by RWE.                   

Prior to Innogy he was Director of Operations in National Power responsible for the operation of all its Power Stations and was later appointed to the board of National Power in 1996.

Throughout his career he has worked on wide range of generating options with experience of a wide range of corporate transformations. He has vast international experience has worked closely with government and regulators.

Brian has an Honours degree in Mathematics from Kings College, Cambridge and a PhD in Physics from Exeter University.

Katya Shcherbakova

Director - DVW Group

Katya is a director of DVW Group and leads the Russian Federation operations to deliver best practices to Russian industrial companies.

Prior to DVW, for 6 years Katya led external communication for AES Corporation (the world’s largest independent power producer) in Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. Katya was part of AES’ business development activity in the region, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) and fuel supply negotiation, litigation and government lobbying activities in each region. Katya initiated and achieved the “Investor of the Year” reward for AES in Kazakhstan whilst successfully forming crisis management strategies particularly during the Ekibastuz (4000 MW) plant explosion with 1 fatality, 2 injured and stop of operation in –15C. She led the mitigation of turmoil surrounding rumours of other business sales, including internal information control and government relations. In Katya's capacity as head external communications officer she acted as company’s spokesperson and primary contact for media and analysts.

Katya has an MBA (General Management with focus on Management & Marketing) from Dowling College of New York  (USA) and a Bachelor of Arts, Linguist, specialist in cross-cultural communication from Moscow State Linguistic University (Russian Federation).
